Keck's Exclusives: Not Such A Long Time Ago Kills Off Its First Legendary Disney Character
Not Such A Long Time Ago, Catherine Lough Haggquist On last night's Not such a long time ago, Cinderella's Fairy Godmother was snuffed out by Rumpelstiltskin much like she would wave her wand making Cinderella's fantasy evening be realized - making her the initial of Disney's legendary figures being destroyed off ABC's new fantasy series. (And taking into consideration the show continues to be written and produced by a few Lost's longtime authors, it's a safe wager they'll be much more later on.) But calculates authors Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz didn't even realize they'd accomplished this milestone until I clued them in. "Oh my gosh God, I guess we did," exclaims Kitsis. "I don't think we even considered it in people historic terms. As storytellers, we just thought it may be awesome if Cinderella arrived at the ball using a deal with Rumpelstiltskin, not the Fairy Godmother." Adds Horowitz: "One of the styles we're getting fun about this show might be the price of miracle. Using miracle even permanently can be a dangerous proposition." Because the authors say it's possible we are in a position to start to see the Fairy Godmother again in pre-dying flashbacks, Horowitz demands, "We really want the stakes really was as well as the audience not to feel cheated." Might there be implications to killing off this kind of beloved figure? "I'll say this," teases Kitsis. "Essentially were Rumpelstiltskin, I'd be cautious for your other fairies [for instance Pinocchio's Blue Fairy], since they're out for revenge!"
